How to Participate

In early March 2014, we will be visiting Los Angeles for sample collection.  Please fill out the survey below if you are interested.

The Iranian Genome Project has received approval from the Stanford Institutional Review Board.*  If you would like to fill out a screening survey in order to determine eligibility, please visit the link below (click the word Survey).  This survey uses Qualtrics, which is a secure website.  Before beginning the survey, you may want to collect some information in order to answer the questions as accurately as possible.  We do ask questions about your parents’ ancestry and your grandparents’ ancestry.  We also ask questions about the where these individuals were born, what languages they spoke, and what religious traditions they practiced.  Since we are studying a diaspora population, we are using these to best pinpoint the ancestral background of our subjects.   This survey may take 15-20 minutes.

This information will not be shared with anyone beyond the study team and will be destroyed after the study.  Your name or any other identifying information will not be linked to your genetic information if you decide to participate.  Samples of participants are only labeled with ethnic group and sex.

* When conducting research with human subjects, a research group must secure approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB).  The Stanford IRB is dedicated to making sure research studies are safe for research subjects and provide researchers with a way to have their protocols checked before launching a study.
